C.P. was my first Teacher in Art (Zeichenlehrer).
He was a Painter himself. A violent tempered man.
He had the feeling for Art in his Blood. Biking in his youth to southern Italy to see the miraculous Mosaics there.
Explaining us the European art from Giotto to Cezanne.
He supported my wild juvenile eagerness to see pictures out of his wonderful big Skira-Books.
I am thankful for each knock on my head, when he observed that I put my watercolorbrush with the hairs downwards in the whaterglas.
I remember a class-travel to Zuerich to see an exhibition of Van Gogh. My first encounter with this problematic genius haunting me a long time in my career. In Greece and on the Athos. Imitating even his stern lifestile.

I am proud having done this clear and wonderful photo in Saulgau when I visited him later in my life before he died there. It’s one of my personal Treasure.
