MEDITATING AT BOROBUDUR, CENTRAL JAVA, INDONESIA, SEPT. 6, 2008: James Travers-Murison, 44, a high school teacher from Melbourne, Australia. “Borobudur is an incredible monument to Buddha’s enlightenment; its spiraling bas relief sculptures are fast eroding and will soon disappear unless it is protected. I was there as part of a spiritual pilgrimage to connect to the universal consciousness, and I had gone away to meditate. Later that day, I went to take a shot of the monument but found that my camera was gone. I checked the restaurant, the room, the video cinema. I ran up the hill to where I had been meditating, but it was over two hours later. An American photographer had photographed me meditating and he showed me a shot that he zoomed in on to show my camera beside me. I knew that this was a sign; I had to let go and learn. I was seeking a wife, and that was the most important thing to me. I had to allow the cosmic intelligence to reveal the lesson. That I had to learn something about attachments to objects and desire before God would present me with a wife.†As told to J. R. Romanko
