Kirill Petrenko- Edgar Elgar

Since 1972(!!) one could not hear this Masterpiece of European Music in Berlin. Shame on you, Berlin.
After R. Hickox played the first Symphonie of Elgar here in 2007, now K. Petrenko performed the second. As a Highlight in this ConcertSeason methinks. It was breathtaking.
Petrenko is a Genius inspirering the wonderful but difficult Apparatus of the BERLIN PHILHARMONIC to the acme.
I have only a small objection. After the score in the second movement announces an almost silent point, the music’s slowly swelling up again should result in a more eery mood.

(Petrenko’s SUK Interpretations in the ‚Komische Oper‘ had the an overwelming quality.)
